Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a complete medical protocol

From its inception more than 2,500 years ago, Acupuncture has been used traditionally to prevent, diagnose and treat disease, as well as to improve general health.

Acupuncture is a complete medical protocol focused on correcting imbalances of energy in the body. The traditional explanation for acupuncture’s effectiveness is that it modifies the flow of energy (known as Qi or chi) throughout the body.

Qi

The meaning of Qi in simple terms is energy, but its true definition is more complex.  It is Qi that promotes metabolism and generates energy, it defends against disease and consolidates and governs the function of the organs and the body and meridians.

Why is Acupuncture so Effective . . .

because its superpower is decreasing inflammation.

Inflammation can cause stiffness and discomfort by the build up of pressure on the tissues, which then affects the nerve ending which then sends messages to the brain that you are in pain! Everyone experiences pain in varying degrees but until the inflammation is reduced, pain will continue.

Acupuncture both reduces inflammation and works on the nervous system to calm the signals to the brain that you are in pain so it works in 2 ways to support you in feeling better and pain free.

Acupuncture balances the brain by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest), a network of nerves that relaxes your body after periods of stress or danger. It also helps run life-sustaining processes, like digestion, during times when you feel safe and relaxed. Most of us are moving about the day with the sympathetic nervous system in the lead (fight-or-flight), best known for its role in responding to dangerous or stressful situations. In these situations, your sympathetic nervous system activates to speed up your heart rate, deliver more blood to areas of your body that need more oxygen or other responses to help you get out of danger.

Busy lives, fast foods and reduced deep sleep can all lead to the brain and the body feeling off. Acupuncture helps put these systems back in balance.

In addition to gentle touch acupuncture, we use needle-free modalities to accommodate different ages and comfort levels.

The balance of yin and yang

Yin — grounded and cooling keeps our yang in check

Yang — expansive, holding and warming, keeps our yin in check.

Acupuncture is about balance … in all things, all organ systems;  when we are in balance, life is just easier to navigate.
